As you all know, I’m a siggi’s ambassador!
Well what does that mean, exactly? Good question Simply put, it means I LOVE siggi’s and I want to share the goodness.
Why do I love it? Well lets see, siggi’s yogurt is Icelandic yogurt. Icelandic yogurt is called sykr, and is very similar to Greek yogurt, being that it is very thick, tangy, and high in protein. The difference between the two is that Icelandic yogurt is slightly thicker & has a higher protein-to-sugar ratio.
Specifically, take a look at the flavored varieties they siggi’s offers. They’re fruit flavored varieties are primarily sweetened with fruit, and only a little bit of agave or cane sugar, and contain 9-11g of sugar with 12g of protein.
The plain has 15g of protein, and 4g of sugar! Sugar naturally occurs in milk, in the form of lactose*, and is what I buy almost all the time.
Even more, if you like flavored yogurts, siggi’s has unique flavors, like orange ginger (love it!) and pomegranate passion fruit.
As an ambassador, I’m provided with a little booklet of knowledge and a chunk coupons to share with people. In the start, we were trying to spread the word about the yogurt. I’ve loved them from the start, and have seen their Facebook page grow from a few hundred to thousands of likes- almost 100k now! (I noticed this because of the number of people entering the giveaways! my chance to win is now wayyyyy down ). So we have the coupons, and can share them with friends, co-workers, or others at the grocery store.
The best part- we also can provide siggi’s for events to promote it!
At my school, I’m involved in the club SAND– the Student Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. It’s the student club for the national organization AND. We have a branch club called Food For Thought, in which we get together once a month and cook a meal, catering towards everyone’s allergies. We’ve done quesadillas, pastas, and much more. The meeting before finals is always some sort of fun snack food, like smoothie bowls! I was able to provide lots of siggi’s and gave a little talk about it, sharing some recipes (here, here, & here)
My favorite thing is to make a smoothie and top the bowl with filmjolk or a few dollops of yogurt! I was going to share a recipe of what some of us made there, but of course, I was sick, again. Food poisoning that time, bleh, it was not pretty. After being up all night the night before, I was in bed until 5, somehow crawled out to go there to talk & take pics at 5:30. We had different topping stations (on the right), and frozen fruit, yogurt, and blenders on the left. Most people just put all of their ingredients in a bowl, blended, and decorated for the ‘gram.
I was a little sad that most people used the vanilla yogurt instead of the plain (but hey, more for me!).
A few days later, I made this bowl. I had a good bit of yogurt and a lot of filmjolk left!
Here, ya layer cool, creamy yogurt with a berry sauce, some berry sauce with mix ins like maca spices, followed by more yogurt, then finally, some nut butter (here, some spicy ginger almond butter!). I save dishes, and used another yogurt container to mix up my sauce
You have a few options for the “sauce” here. Last year, I started changing up yogurt bowls by instead of just adding berries, blend them up and drizzling it! Then add whole toppings, it makes it so much more fun. So, you can simply dump a bunch of berries in a blender or food processor and use that puree. This time I found some new juices on sale at Kroger which I found interesting. I usually buy all/mostly green juices, but loved this new one form 1915 Bolthouse: all berry purees + spinach! Especially with a lack of organic and fresh and affordable fruit (specifically berries!) This was an awesome way to get some in. Again, I loved that it was the puree, not just juice!
You take some of the sauce, with it with about a tbsp. of greens/protein, some maca, whatever else ya want, pour it into your bowl, then top it with some more fresh sauce.
